Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most transformative technologies in higher education, offering innovative opportunities to enhance personalized learning, academic achievement, and higher-order cognitive development. AI-powered educational tools, including intelligent tutoring systems, large language models, adaptive learning platforms, and automated feedback systems, are increasingly being integrated into undergraduate education to support teaching and learning processes. Despite their growing adoption, uncertainty remains regarding the extent to which structured AI-assisted learning may influence academic performance and critical thinking skills under optimized educational conditions. The present study employed a predictive research approach to evaluate the expected impact of varying levels of AI-assisted learning on academic performance, learning engagement, digital literacy, self-regulated learning, and critical thinking skills among undergraduate students. No surveys, interviews, classroom interventions, or assessments involving human participants were conducted. Instead, evidence-informed predictions were developed by integrating established scientific knowledge from educational psychology, artificial intelligence in education, cognitive science, personalized learning theory, self-regulated learning, and higher education research. Four educational conditions were comparatively evaluated: conventional learning without AI assistance (T₀), limited AI-assisted learning (T₁), moderate AI-assisted learning (T₂), and structured AI-assisted learning with instructor guidance (T₃). The predictive assessment suggests progressive improvements in academic achievement, learning efficiency, knowledge retention, research competency, digital literacy, and critical thinking with increasing integration of AI-supported learning under appropriate pedagogical supervision. Structured AI-assisted learning is predicted to provide the greatest educational benefits by combining personalized feedback, adaptive learning, instructor facilitation, and reflective evaluation while minimizing excessive dependence on artificial intelligence. The findings indicate that responsible integration of AI technologies has substantial potential to improve undergraduate education while preserving independent reasoning, analytical thinking, and evidence-based decision-making. The predictive framework developed in this study provides a scientific foundation for future experimental validation and responsible implementation of AI-assisted learning within higher education.
