Determinants of Teacher's Morale and its Relationship with Effective Teacher's Performance at Secondary School Level at District Bannu

Secondary education occupies a central and very key position in the education arena, because it absorbs students from primary and middle education, and prepares them for access into higher educational institutions. This gives secondary education its relevance and significant value and position. On the other hand, teachers are those educated accomplished workforce who are essentially concerned with teaching-learning process in their respective educational institutions. They have very close interactions with their learners during school hours. Consequently, teachers have a great and governing control on their students and school. Their positive stance regarding their occupation is called teacher morale. This study is intended to investigate the morale as predictor and its relationship with effective performance in terms of Teachers performance and achievements. The main objectives of this research study were as: to investigate the determinants of morale of the Public Secondary School teachers (both gender) of the District Bannu, to compare the morale of Male and female Public Secondary school teachers, to investigate the factors affecting the performance of the Public Secondary school teachers and finally to find out the relationship between teacher's morale and their effective performance in District Bannu. The Hypothesis of the study were: Ho1: There is no significant relationship between Teacher's morale and their effective performances and Ho2: Is there any difference between the Morale of Male and female teachers of District Bannu. While these objectives were tried to be achieved by these research questions: What are the determinants of Morale of Public Secondary School Teachers? And which factors influence the performances of Male and Female teachers in secondary schools working in District Bannu? For this study, sample of 194 teachers were selected from the population of 390 male and female teachers of government secondary schools of the District Bannu. A self-developed standardized questionnaire was used for the data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were applied for the analysis of the collected data. At the end from the findings of the research some favorable recommendations were drawn by the researcher. At the end it was concluded that effective performance of teachers is the trait of escalation and improvement of inhabitants worldwide. The level of effectiveness, output and the capability of educational system to accomplish their set purpose rely on the teachers as replicated in performing their definite roles since teachers are the keys upon which the whole learning system is rotating.
