Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important straits and the shipping route through it is also considered a key check point for global oil and energy movements. The region has long been a flashpoint between Iran and the United States, and there has been a frequent series of military conflicts, economic sanctions, and security threats in the region and internationally, adding to its geopolitical significance. This study analyzes how the Strait of Hormuz is affected by the geopolitical tensions between Iran and the United States, and their influence on the global economy. It examines the impact of the conflict on global energy security, oil prices, international trade and economic stability, as well as political and media narratives on international perceptions of the crisis.
The study employs a qualitative research method based on the interpretivist paradigm and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and thematic analysis to analyze the political speeches, policy documents, media reports, scholarly works and economic analyses related to the incident of Strait of Hormuz. The research examines postcolonial theory and critical geopolitics to provide a critical examination of the framing of security, threat, militarization and power in geopolitics. This study also discusses the impact of global powers on the strategic and economic dominance in the Gulf region through political, military and economic means.
The study's results will show that the tensions in the Strait of Hormuz are not just a regional matter of security but have a significant impact on economic systems and international political relations worldwide. The research also adds to the study of international relations, political economy, and critical geopolitical studies by offering insights into the geopolitical conflict, energy politics and global economic vulnerability in the current world order.
