This article examines the relationship between individual accountability and collective life in Islam. Islam holds every person personally responsible before Allah yet teaches that true success is achieved not in isolation but through social and communal living. The paper centers on Surah Al-Imran (3:102–103), which presents two core principles:
1. Taqwa (God-Consciousness): Explained in three levels—abstaining from shirk, avoiding all that displeases Allah, and the highest station of purifying the heart for His remembrance. The "true right of Taqwa" is defined as complete obedience, constant remembrance, and gratitude to Allah.
2. Unity and Collectivity: Holding firmly to the "Rope of Allah" (Hablullah)—interpreted as the Holy Qur'an—which serves as the only universal center of unity for all Muslims, transcending ethnic, linguistic, and regional divisions.
The article distinguishes between blameworthy differences (rooted in personal desires and distance from the Qur'an) and non-blameworthy differences (legitimate scholarly variance in subsidiary matters, considered a mercy).
Historically, Muslim glory was tied to Qur'anic unity, while decline followed when they abandoned it for pre‑Islamic prejudices. The only path to revival, the article argues, is firm adherence to the Qur'an and fostering mutual brotherhood.
In conclusion, success in both worlds is contingent solely upon obedience to Allah and following the Qur'anic system of life—the only guarantee of salvation and prosperity.
