The family is a basic factor that influences the social behavior, personality and general development of children. The current research work was carried out in order to analyze the comparative study of socialization of children in nuclear and joint family systems in District Sargodha. The primary avenue of the research was to examine the effect of various family structures on the emotional, moral and social development of children. The particular aims of the study were to analyze the role of the family in the socialization of children, to compare the process of socialization of children in nuclear families with that of joint families, to find out factors that affect the social behavior of children in family set up, and to observe the effects that family environment has on the overall development of children. The research design used was quantitative research design that was comparative and cross-sectional. District Sargodha was chosen as the selection in terms of a random sampling method. 245 respondents were then selected. The data was gathered using a structured questionnaire that included demographics and Likert scales statements regarding the socialization and family interaction of children, moral guidance, emotional support, and development of children behaviors. The frequency and percentage of data were used in the analysis of the gathered data under descriptive statistics, and Chi-square tests were obtained to test the relation of family system and socialization of children. The research results indicated that most of the respondents felt that families are major factors in social behavior of children. The majority of the respondents affirmed that families teach children how to be socially, culturally, respectful, and morally inclined. The findings also revealed that, both the nuclear and the joint family has a positive contribution in the development of children, though, there is a tendency that joint family offers more socialization and support systems. The Chi-square result also showed that there is a statistically significant correlation between family system and different elements of children socialization. In the study, the family is pointed out as the main institution that is in charge of the social development of children. The development of children in terms of social, emotional, and moral aspects can be boosted by strengthening familial bonds, supporting positive parenting, and helping children to develop in favorable family settings.
