Sustainable Tourism Development in Pakistan and China: A Comparative Analysis of Practices and Policies

This study seeks to evaluate sustainable practices in tourism between Pakistan and China through
an understanding of the subject matter practices, policies, and problems on both sides of the border.

documents and interviews with stakeholders and case studies to investigate the impact of
sustainable tourism policies in both countries. Among its main findings is that although China has
devised widespread policies and built-up community involvement, Pakistan faces serious
challenges with its governance and development infrastructure. The paper ends by drawing
implications for both countries with policy frameworks, local community participation, and
lessons learned from each other. These insights are intended to enhance policymaking and tourism
stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism which is an essential prerequisite for contributing to
local communities and natural resource conservation in Pakistan and China.
