This research paper peruses the enigmatic world of the animus archetype through a comprehensive analysis of Paulo Coelho's novel Brida. The animus, a significant concept in Carl Jung's analytical psychology, represents the masculine aspect within a woman's psyche and plays a crucial role in her journey of self-realization and individuation. By examining Brida's romantic encounters with male figures embodying the animus, this study seeks to unravel the secrets of this archetypal force and its transformative impact on the protagonist's life. The paper begins with an exploration of Jung's theoretical framework on the animus archetype and its role in female development. As Brida's character embodies the awakening of her animus, the paper investigates how she navigates through projections, assimilating masculine qualities, and achieving psychological wholeness. The analysis further dilates upon Brida's romantic relationships. These relationships serve as case studies of Brida's gradual integration of the animus, leading to her growth and self-discovery. Through a Jungian lens, this study offers valuable insights into the portrayal of gender dynamics, relationships, and personal growth in Coelho's novel. Brida's encounters with the animus provide a window into the complexities of romantic relationships and the transformative power of love and inner exploration. Furthermore, the research contributes to a deeper understanding of Jungian archetypes in literature and their significance in portraying psychological development and individuation.
